If recently upgraded to the Galaxy S4 through ATT only to be disappointed that it’s locked, help is around the corner. Sort of… It is official that the boot loader has been unlocked, but it’s not being released to the public just yet. Dan Rosenberg just recently Tweeted a picture of an unlocked ATT Galaxy S4. While he has made no official statement on his blog, have no fear, this is real. However, it’s not going to be released to the public for a little bit.
Verizon, which is infamous for locking down its phones just like ATT, is set to release their version of the S4 on May 30th. Therefore, for the good of the community the roms aren’t being released right away. This is so you can also root your Verizon S4 when it comes out. If it was released now, Verizon would have time to fix any flaws and possibly leave the S4 locked down for good.
So until then, we’ll just have to wait. However, Dan does indeed promise to release it as soon as Verizon goes on sale with their version. He also goes on to say that this unlock will probably not work on the Verizon release, but he doesn’t have the phone to test out his theory.
