The Best Non-Apple Mobile Phones

As many of you know, I am a confirmed Apple fan girl. Yeah, I have a certain fondness for the way Apple has changed the mobile phone biz ever since releasing the iPhone all those years ago. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t still some other awesome phones out there for those of you who don’t want to go down the iPhone route. I’ve played with a lot of mobile phones in my time and here are a few of my favorites.

Motorola Droid Maxx

Ye Gods but this thing is expensive!  Still, if you can get past the hefty price tag you might just have one of the best non-Apple phones on the market today. This thing has a tremendously long battery life which is great when most smartphones need to be charged at least daily, if not even more sometimes. The phone comes standard with 32 GB of built-in memory too, so not many people will need more. Also, it has possibly the most beautiful, big, and bright screen I’ve ever seen, including my beloved Apple. And Kevlar coating? It looks beautiful, but are they worried about it getting shot often?

Samsung Galaxy Note 3

All of the Notes have been great and this is no exception. With a big, beautiful screen, good touch response, and a quad-core processor, it’s made of powerful stuff. This is a phone that will touch your heart. This device has one of the best mobile phone cameras I’ve ever used too. If I owned this, I might not need to own my trusty compact digital camera. This one comes with a stylus too, if you like that sort of thing. Finally, call quality is amazing.

HTC One

I like that this phone is a little smaller than some of the other recent offerings from the big smartphone manufacturers. It fits in my, ahem… delicate hands much better. But smaller is not less powerful. It has a 1080p screen, the latest version of Android, and the camera app has enough features to keep most amateur photographers interested for hours. It has no SD card slot anywhere on it though, which is a slight downside. Still, I like style, and this phone rivals Apple with its slick design and beautiful ease of use.

LG G2

This phone is the fastest on this list. Load time is great, app response time is amazing and the camera takes lightning fast shots. You can blame the top of the line processor for that. This one also has a bright screen that displays beautifully. It does suffer from some of its software functionality being a bit buried though, and the back controls were hard to get used to. Still, this is a great phone. And if you need speed, this has it.
I am an Apple fan. I always will be. Still, these phones are great. Anyone who isn’t looking to get the latest iPhone could do well with any of these. For whatever phone you end up with however, I recommend that you take a look at the best SIM-only contracts. There are lots of reasons to go SIM-only on your contract and this is one of the best.
