$80 to replace iPhone battery

Apple products are some of the most sought after tech gadgets out there. With so many out there, they’re bound to break eventually. With my recent experience at the Apple store, I needed to figure out how to repair my device myself. If your Apple product is out of warranty, it’s highly recommended you fix it yourself because they will charge you an arm and a leg. Even using iPod touch 4g repair services is by far cheaper than having Apple repair your products.

Apple products are usually pretty simple to repair on your own. eBay is a great source of replacement parts when it comes to iPhone iPod and other Apple parts. I purchased my battery for my phone for only $16 and it came with the needed tools. It’s important that the replacement parts you’re buying come with tools, because the screws they use are usually proprietary.

On an iPhone, two star shaped screws reveal the entire guts of the phone. These two screws allow you to replace parts such as the battery, back cover, and even the motherboard. If you wish to do a screen replacement, it’s a little more difficult and an iPod touch 4g screen repair service might be for you.

Many people have had good luck at the “genius bar”, but I don’t seem to. My iPhone was only a month out of warranty when I was told it would cost $80 to replace a battery. I was offered no discounts or anything and was quite disappointed with the care I received. The worst part about the whole thing is that while they said a dead battery was causing my phone to shut off randomly, that wasn’t even the problem. If I would have gone with their $80 service it wouldn’t have even remedied the problem.

With a company whose products are so expensive, it’s a little disconcerting that I wasn’t better assisted. Sure my phone was out of warranty, I get that. They could have at least offered me a discount on the repair however. Charging $80 for a battery replacement is outrageous in any circumstance, let alone when your phone is only a month out of warranty.
